Welcome to this week’s talent breakdown, or: “How I learned to stop worrying and love the Eagles.” The CFP has Boston College ranked as the best team we will have faced up to this point, so let’s see how they measure up.
As you can see, we have a huge advantage over them from a recruiting standpoint. None of their starters had more than 3 stars as a recruit, and we swallow them whole in the radar plots (keep in mind the “hole” at WR is Hunter Renfrow).
Clemson has 20 of the top 22 players on the field. The only players they have that could potentially play for us would be AJ Dillon (RB) and Connor Strachan (MLB), and I doubt either would start.
Boston College has a lot of experience. In fact, they will be the most experienced team we will have faced. Their offense averages 3.73yrs of experience (to our 3.18), and their defense averages 4.0yrs (to our 3.55yrs).
Don’t believe the hype. If we play mistake free football, we are going to roll. I don’t see them running on our front four, and our DBs shouldn’t have a lot of problems covering their 3* WRs. They have a lot of experience and I expect them to play clean football, but that’s about all they have going for them. The last time I checked, the line had moved to Clemson -20, and I think that’s about right.
